Shopping mall (20%)

• Collect a number of high-end shopping mall directories in Hong Kong.
• Study, analyze and present the directories in terms of information design.
• Pick a ‘cheap’ shopping market in Hong Kong.
• Design a directory for that location.

Assignment 2

Audio/music visualization (20%)

• Select your favorite piece of music (instrumental preferred).
• Research on the author, historical background, musical score, instruments used.
• Identify your own emotional reaction to the music and notate it.
• Prepare a two-dimensional representation of the music in a A3 size page.

Assignment 3

Information Aesthetics (30%)

• Find a relevant topic related to this class.
• Identify and collect content material about the topic.
• Define the social and cultural context of the topic.
• Create a visualization of the material fit with the context.

• Attendance, time management (10%)
• Visual journal (10%)
• Student lecture (10%)

Choose a topic/designer related to information design or information art. Prepare a short lecture about an hour. Present the material to the class.
